Kot, taking over from the US.

before a change of command at 1 Bde.

Then-commander Brig Gus McLachlan
said it was an opportunity for friends, fam-
ily and colleagues to wish the deploying
members a safe and successful mission.
"Today offers family and friends the
opportunity to celebrate the quality and
commitment of our personnel and to wish
them luck and support before their upcom-
ing deployment to Afghanistan," he said.
"Each member will play an impor-
tant role to ensure that the transition for
Afghan security by 2014 remains on

BRIG John Frewen took command of
1 Bde from Brig Gus McLachlan during
a handover ceremony on September 28.
The commander's pennant, repre-
senting the location of the brigade HQ
