SAY AGAIN, OVER
Army February 2, 2012
By Bob Dikkenberg
THE first thing you notice about the
J&L iWall is its size.
The iPod/iPhone speaker dock
stands 1m high, 46cm wide and 15cm
deep. It's big.
Size obviously matters because this
2.1 channel, 600 watt giant (boasting a
seven-speaker system) packs a punch.
The sound is very clear, particularly
with the volume pumped up, and the
big bass is something to behold.
A handy remote control allows easy
iPod and iWall menu navigation or you
can attempt the confusing five button
Dock lets rip with
a wall of sound
touch key control system below the
iWall's equally confusing LCD display.
Sub woofer, treble and bass levels
are fully adjustable and there is an FM
tuner built in.
Aside from the recharging iPhone/
iPod dock, there is an S-Video output
and an RCA AUX input on the rear of
the system, which can restrict connec-
tivity, particularly with the variety of
input options these days.
But sound quality more than makes
up for any shortcomings. Despite its
size the iWall can be hauled around the
house easily to start blasting away as
soon as it's plugged in.

affordable audio solution for those in

Go loud: The J&L iWall is large for an iPod dock, but has the power and
sound quality of a big home stereo system.

Eagle Eye Converter
THE days of console gamers struggling
with thumb controls in first-person
shooters are gone with the release of
the Eagle Eye Converter (EEC) on
The EEC is an ingenious device which
plugs into the Playstation 3 (PS3) and
allows most PC keyboards and mouses to
be used in place of the game controller.
Using the supplied software, the
device is first configured on a PC, allow-
ing players to map buttons on the PS3
controller to any keyboard key or mouse
Although aimed primarily at first-
person shooters, the EEC is compatible
with all games.
Within minutes of using the device the
results spoke louder than words with this
reviewer's Battlefield 3 score more than
doubling and continuing to improve.
For sale online from both overseas and
local suppliers, the EEC is also available
for the Xbox 360.
