The ability of the Afghan
National Army to conduct their own
indirect fire missions is one of many
important steps that need to be taken
so that the Afghan Government can

1Lt Ismatullah, the fire direction
officer at 4 Combat Spt Kandak, 4

gun in the ANA.
“We don’t have the same assets
that other armies do so it’s impor-

to indirect firing shows the progress

Australian mentor Capt Christian
Sandner said it was a progression.
Capt Sandner attributed the ANA
gunners’ progress to the keen lead-

and in particular commended the
motivation of 1Lt Ismatullah.
With the mission complete,
4 Combat Spt Kandak was now
another step closer to delivering
accurate artillery fire to the battle-
field without assistance.
