A COMPANY-level airlift of
soldiers from Lavarack Barracks
to the Townsville Field Training
Area (TFTA) was a feature of
3 Bde's air manoeuvre training
from May 24-27.
For some soldiers it was their first
time in a Black Hawk or Chinook.
Maj Mick Buchanan, OC B Coy,
2RAR, led the combat team with
troops from 2RAR and 1RAR's
Mortar Pl on one of the airlifts.
"As part of 3 Bde, readiness is our
main game and being able to deploy
from both air and sea is very impor-
tant to us," Maj Buchanan said.
Three Black Hawks and two
Chinooks from 5 Avn Regt moved the
