BRISBANE farewelled its larg-
est deployment of troops to leave
Enoggera since World War II on
January 20 and marked a major mile-
stone in the re-emergence of 7 Bde as
a deployable formation.
About 1200 soldiers will deploy on
operations to the Middle East and East
Timor as 7 Bde assumes the role as the
Army's deployed brigade.
Personnel are drawn from units
across Australia but based predominant-
ly on units from the South Queensland-
based 7 Bde.
It was one of the last official func-

"The years of being drip-fed resourc-

thing," Brig Day said.
"That hungry culture has been
retained; the soldiers are full of initia-
tive, and ready to go."
Brig Day said the Brisbane-based
soldiers were second to none.
"No-one in the world produces better
soldiers than Australia does -- there are
some that do as well, but none better.
The soldiers will form MTF 1,
Timor-Leste Task Group and FSU 3.
7 Bde has already farewelled Secdet
16, mostly from 2/14 LHR (QMI), while
soldiers from 139 Sig Sqn deployed to
the Middle East with FCU 3.
A farewell at Holsworthy had already
been held for the 140 communicators
from FCU 3 (Op Slipper) and the FCE 3,
