PERSONNEL have a little more
money to burn now that salary and
salary-related allowances have
increased by 3.5 per cent.
The pay rise came into effect on
November 12 as part of the new two-
year ADF Workplace Remuneration
Arrangement (WRA), recently
approved by the Defence Force
Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT).
Members will see the change in
their pay slips from November 26.
The rise is the first of two instal-
ments for personnel up to and includ-
ing the rank of colonel.
The second instalment of 2.7 per
cent will take effect from November
11 next year.
The WRA will increase ADF sal-
ary by a total of 6.2 per cent. It will
expire on November 3, 2011.
The pay rise applies to all ADF
members of the permanent and
reserve forces and affects both salary
and salary-related allowances.
The salary-related allowances
include: adventurous training instruc-
tor; arduous conditions; field; fly-
ing and flight duties; hard lying;
language proficiency; paratrooper;
reserve; separation; service; special
forces disability; specialist opera-
tions; seagoing and trainee.
Member support was a key fac-
tor the DFRT examined when con-
sidering approval of the WRA pay
increases. Commanders were asked

Victoria Cross winner, Tpr
Mark Donaldson, SASR,
says being granted an audi-
ence with the Queen is an
honour he will never forget.
Tpr Donaldson travelled
to England to meet Queen
Elizabeth earlier this month.
"I feel very proud to be
given the opportunity to meet
Her Majesty the Queen,"
he said. "It's something not
many people get to do."
He was in England
for a service at London's
Westminster Abbey as part of
the official commemorations
marking Remembrance Day.
Tpr Donaldson joined
British LCpl Johnson
Beharry, VC, in laying a
wreath during the service.
While in London, Tpr
Donaldson also met members
of the VC and George Cross
Association, of which he is
the newest member.
Lovely to meet you, Ma'am
